What is Skills for Life?
'Skills for Life' is a FREE first aid training initiative for all WA schools. We'll be sending experienced St John Ambulance trainers to primary and high schools in metropolitan and regional WA to offer a FREE 1 hour and 20 minute first aid training course. Our aim is to equip all students with the first-aid skills they need if faced with a medical emergency. All schools in WA are invited to be part of the FREE first aid training program.*
Course Overview The course is fun and informative with hands-on techniques and demonstrations, plus video testimonials. This includes the use of training manikins for practical CPR sessions. Topics covered in the course include; Dealing with an unconscious casualty, Clearing a blocked airway, CPR, Managing a bleed and Treating burns.
Why Learn First aid? Statistics show that WA does not have enough first aid educated people in the community. St John ambulance wants to change this, by giving WA school students the skills and confidence to be able to assist if confronted with an emergency. Programs like 'Skills for Life' are important. In just over 1 hour, St John Ambulance can equip students with vital first aid skills that may save a life.
